TEAD – Adding to the Herd

March 2024

In the last year, TEAD had lost 2 of its beloved ponies: Wrangler and Lady, who both passed suddenly. The Spring and Summer sessions are approaching, the organization was concerned that it would not be able to support its youngest, smallest and often most complex participants with the remaining equines in their herd. They needed to find and train a new pony to be able to continue providing therapeutic riding for this specific group within our community. Hamilton District Society for Disabled Children donated $20,000.

“The TEAD grant appealed to me because I have personally witnessed what happens to children in the relationship that develops between them and the equine. The relationship is two-way. The equine knows its role and purpose and the child grows and benefits. This feels so aligned with our mission as a board.”
