Arts for All (formerly Culture for Kids in the Arts)
Hamilton District Society for Disabled Children donated $30,000 to aid this program in seeking to teach music, create performance opportunities, and provide a social and musical experience for children who would not otherwise thrive in a traditional children’s choir. In our first year, we practiced and performed songs in unison, aiming for the choristers to perform the same song, at the same time, and in the same key. Now in our sixth year, we have choristers performing musical works with sections of two-part harmony, musical rounds, and using various Orff and rhythm instruments. Working with such a diverse group of choristers is both challenging and rewarding, and requires unique teaching methods.
“Arts For All is extremely appreciative of the essential support of HDSDC to ensure the sustainability of the Resonance Choir. With a commitment to this program, HDSDC helps to inspire confidence and wellbeing in our most vulnerable populations.”
Vitek Wincza, Artistic & Executive Director, Arts For All
“The thing that appealed to me about this grant request was that the children whom we serve are introduced to the joy that music and the arts brings to all, while experiencing the excitement of peer performance supported by artistic professionals!”
