Celebrating Disabled Youth During Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March

March is a time of growth, renewal, and raising awareness—making it the perfect month to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

This March, we encourage everyone in Hamilton to take part in two remarkable events that highlight inclusion and the celebration of differences:

  1. Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 17–23, 2025) Though celebrated worldwide, this initiative encourages communities to honor and embrace neurodiversity. While there aren’t specific in-person events planned in Hamilton, virtual workshops and panels provide a unique opportunity to learn about topics such as “Celebrating Different Minds” and “The Power of Language in Neurodiversity.” By joining these events, we can collectively foster understanding and inclusivity for all.
  2. World Down Syndrome Day Celebration (March 21, 2025) Hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Hamilton, this special event will take place at the Hamilton Italian Centre. It will mark the grand opening of their new office and program space—a vital step in supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The celebration will feature engaging activities, opportunities to connect, and insights into the amazing work being done in our community.

Both events serve as a call to action for all of us to participate, learn, and celebrate the diversity that makes our community stronger.

Together, let’s honor the spirit of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and continue building a more inclusive world.
